Director Karan Johar, in the recent episode of Coffee with Karan 7 free He claims that actor Aamir Khan is responsible for losing the tonality in Hindi cinema that South cinema offers. In a conversation with Aamir, theAe Dil Hai Mushkil the director said, “Some of the films South Industry has offered us have become so successful in terms of Bahubali, RRR, KGFand Pushpa and some of our movies are not working. Is there a change that has happened in our movies recently in terms of that tone KGF yes or Pushpa he used to have that Hindi cinema. In fact we will release it and you are responsible for it.”
Explaining why he considers Aamir responsible for all this, Karan said, “ In 2001 you came up with two films Dil Chahta Hai and The riverboth had new feelings, both had new proportions in cinema and after that you came up with a film Class Of Basani in 2006, then you did Taare Zameen Par right after that, and as a result you started making certain viewers and filmmakers.”
Aamir denied all the claims and said, “No, you are wrong. Those were all core films. Those films had emotions. They reach the common man. It’s something you will connect with emotionally. Class Of Basani It is a very emotional film. It connects with the people on the ground.”
Aamir also said, “I am not saying to do action films or crude films. Make good films with great stories but choose topics that relate to people the most. Every filmmaker has the freedom to do what they want. But when you’re choosing something that most of India isn’t really interested in… There are niche people who are interested, which most of us don’t realize. That’s the difference I think.”
South Indian films have performed very well across the world in recent years. But like big Bollywood movies PrithvirajRanbir Kapoor on summer and Ranveer Singh’s Jayeshbhai Jordaar failed to bring audiences to the theatres.
